1. Fundamental Privacy Philosophy
At BeeQuill (accessible via beequill.com and our desktop applications), we believe your voice and meeting conversations are strictly confidential property. We operate on a Local-First Architecture: by default, all meeting audio recordings, live transcripts, raw notes, and vector embeddings are processed and stored exclusively on your local device in an offline SQLite database.
2. Data Collection and Processing
Depending on your usage mode, here is exactly what data is handled and where it lives:

3. Third-Party AI Models & BYO-LLM
When you configure external LLMs (such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT-4o, or Groq), your text prompts are transmitted directly from your client machine to that third-party provider via their official encrypted API endpoints. BeeQuill does not intercept, store, log, or train models on your API payloads. Your relationship with those providers is governed by their respective privacy terms and zero-data-retention enterprise agreements.
4. Payment Processing (Stripe)
All subscription purchases, renewals, and cancellations are processed through our payment partner, Stripe Inc. We never store, process, or have access to your full credit card number or bank details. Stripe collects billing details in accordance with PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance.
5. Data Sovereignty & Zero Data Loss
You retain 100% ownership of your notes. You can export a full JSON or Markdown backup of all meetings, templates, and folders at any time with a single click. If you cancel a paid subscription, your account gracefully transitions to the Free tier with zero data deletion. Your local offline database remains completely accessible forever.
6. Security and Compliance
BeeQuill complies with the standards established by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Because our default architecture is local-first, we do not monetize, sell, or rent your personal information to third parties.
